Northumbria University Programmes Launch in Birmingham

Following more than ten years of successful delivery in London, QA Higher Education is extending its partnership with Northumbria University to Birmingham, further expanding access to high-quality postgraduate education in key UK city centre locations.

From September 2026, students will be able to study Northumbria University postgraduate programmes in Birmingham through QA Higher Education. This expansion builds on a partnership that began with the launch of Northumbria University’s London campus in 2014, which has since established a strong reputation for academic quality, student experience, and graduate outcomes.

The Birmingham launch represents the next phase in a strategic collaboration focused on delivering career-relevant postgraduate education. Programmes in Birmingham will be delivered through a full-time study model, with multiple intakes enabling students to access structured teaching, guided independent study, and employability-focused learning throughout the academic year.

The initial programme portfolio in Birmingham will include the MSc Business with International Management and MSc Artificial Intelligence Technology. These postgraduate degrees build on prior undergraduate study, offering advanced knowledge and specialised skills while enabling students to study in Birmingham, the UK’s hub of business, innovation, and culture. Northumbria University is ranked in the top 20 UK universities for the number of graduates progressing into skilled employment, highlighting its strong focus on career outcomes (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2022/23).

Students will benefit from employability-driven learning, project-based activity, and opportunities to engage with career-enhancing partnerships with leading employers. Teaching is delivered by academics who are also professionals in their field, ensuring learning is closely aligned with current industry practice and real-world application.

QA Higher Education’s Birmingham study centre is located in the heart of the city centre, offering excellent transport connectivity via three central train stations, an extensive bus and tram network, and Birmingham Airport located just eight miles to the east of the city. The location provides access to a diverse academic and professional community, alongside the city’s cultural offer and more than 8,000 acres of parks and green spaces.

With this latest expansion, QA Higher Education and Northumbria University continue their shared commitment to widening access to postgraduate education, delivering industry-relevant programmes in highly connected city centre locations, and supporting students to progress into skilled employment.
